Searching for a Course Online

There are two ways you can search for a course online. Either

1) Use our Courses Finder to find a course to suit your requirements, or

2) Browse all our courses in a particular programme, be it CPD courses, Technician courses, IT courses, etc.

Let's run through both options.

Hover over the “Training” option from the left-hand menu and then hover over “Courses” from the sub-menu that appears.

You'll then be presented with a second sub-menu of items, as shown opposite.

Let's go through each of these, one-by-one.

Courses Finder

The Course Finder is essentially a search engine that allows you to search our database of public courses to find one that suits you. You can make your search as narrow or as wide as you wish . For instance, you may simply want a list of all tax-related courses. Alternatively, you might only want to see details of corporation tax courses, running in London, between 1 January and 1 February, being lectured by a particular speaker.

We’ll cover the Courses Finder in more detail a little further down, in the section titled “The Courses Finder”.

CPD Courses

By clicking on "CPD Courses" from the sub menu, you'll be presented with our programme of CPD courses in a list format. Our range of CPD courses are aimed at helping to ensure you remain technically up to date, whilst identifying areas where you can improve efficiencies within your organisation.

Click on any of the course titles in the "CPD Course" list to view an outline for that particular course, as well as the dates and venues in which the course is running.

Technician Courses

By clicking on "Technician Courses" from the sub menu, you'll be presented with our programme of Technician courses in a list format. Our Technician courses are intended as updates for fully qualified personnel who do not routinely work across all the areas of accounts, audit and tax. Alternatively, junior staff who are looking for higher level courses as part of their professional qualifications will also find these courses beneficial. Many of the courses offer case studies or examples in addition to a lecture-based format.

Click on any of the course titles in the "Technician Course" list to view an outline for that particular course, as well as the dates and venues in which the course is running.

Staff Workshops

By clicking on "Staff Workshops" from the sub menu, you'll be presented with our programme of Staff Workshops in a list format. These courses are aimed primarily at junior-level staff before they become qualified.

Click on any of the course titles in the "Staff Workshops" list to view an outline for that particular course, as well as the dates and venues in which the course is running.

Student Workshops

By clicking on "Student Workshops" from the sub menu, you'll be presented with our programme of Student Workshops running in London in a list format. These workshops teach the basics of accounting, and are ideal for anyone entering into the accountancy profession for the first time.

Click on any of the course titles in the "Student Workshops" list to view an outline for that particular course, as well as the dates and venues in which the course is running.

IT Courses

By clicking on "IT Courses" from the sub menu, you'll be presented with our programme of IT Courses in a list format. These courses provide hands-on training in computer packages commonly used by accountants, including Sage, QuickBooks and many of the Microsoft Office packages.

Click on any of the course titles in the "IT Course" list to view an outline for that particular course, as well as the dates and venues in which the course is running.

In-house Courses

By clicking on "In-house Courses" from the sub menu, you'll be presented with our programme of courses that can be run in-house for you, in a list format.

Click on any of the course titles in the "In-house Course" list to view an outline for that particular course, as well as pricing details.

Online & CD Courses

By clicking on "Online & CD Courses" from the sub menu, you'll be presented with our programme of courses that can be completed over-the-web or on CD, allowing you to undertake the course at a time and location of your convenience.

Click on a course title in the "Online & CD Course" list to view an outline for that particular course, as well as pricing details.

Monthly Courses

Every month, we provide an update of all forthcoming courses in a given region. This option will change to read "January Courses", or "February Courses" etc, depending on the time of year. Click this option and you'll be presented with a list of 5 regions. Click on the region in which you'd like to attend a course, and you'll be provided with an overview of all courses coming up in that region next month.

The Courses Finder

SWATUK's Course Finder enables you to quickly and easily find a course(s) to match your requirements, whether by topic, lecturer, date, course type, or the distance of the course from a specific postcode.

Let's brifly go through each search option:

Keyword search:

In the "Search For" box, enter a keyword relating to the sort of course you’re looking for, e.g. FRSSE, Companies Act, Tax, PAYE etc.

You can now simply click "Search" and you'll be presented with all courses that match your criteria. However, the following options allow you to narrow your search if you wish.

Find a course in your area

Use the "Show Courses Within” drop-down-box to enter the number of miles you’re prepared to travel from a given postcode that you can enter in the adjacent box. This will allow you to narrow your course search to a specific region of the UK. Of course, you can leave this blank if you wish to view all courses throughout the UK.

Find a course running between 2 given dates

The "Running between" boxes allow you to narrow your search to only include courses running between 2 sets of dates that you specify. Click the "Calendar" icon  to the right of each box to pick out the dates you wish.

Specify a lecturer

Use the "Lectured by" drop-down-box to narrow your search to only include courses lectured by a particular speaker.

Specify a 'level' of course

Use the "Course type" drop-down-box, to only include courses in a particular programme in your search.

For example, our CPD courses are aimed at more senior staff looking to remain technically up to date with changes in the profession and improve the efficiencies of their practice; whereas our Staff and Student level workshops are aimed at those in the early stages of their accountancy career, providing tuition on undertaking accounts, audit and tax work.

How would you like your results displayed?

Use the "Order results by" drop-down-box to select whether you want your search results to be ordered chronologically (i.e. by date) or geographically (i.e display those courses that are geographically closer to you first).

Search

Once you've specified your search criteria, simply hit the "Search" button, and your results will be displayed underneath.

To find out more about any of the courses displayed in your search results, or to make a booking, simply click on the course title, and you’ll be presented with a course outline as well as a list of all the venues in which this course is running.

By clicking on the course venue, you’ll be provided with the address and location of the course venue, and in most cases, you can view a map of the course venue too.
