Course Content

On the 13 July 2017, HM Treasury and HM Revenue & Customs published its second Finance Bill of 2017, which includes changes to the proposed Making Tax Digital initiative.

The government has said it believes that introducing a new digital tax system is still the right direction to move in. However, it has made amendments to the businesses this impacts and the timescales for change. The course will confirm the implementation dates for the various different kinds of taxpayers and the implications for the practice:

  • Implementation dates and issues for VAT registered businesses
  • Record keeping issues for VAT registered businesses
  • Differences between VAT registered businesses, non-VAT registered businesses and companies.
  • Bringing business tax into the digital age
  • Update on the software developers and how is the pilot going
  • Simplifying tax for unincorporated businesses
  • Simplified cash basis for unincorporated property businesses
  • Tax administration
  • The impact on your practice, including changes in workflow patterns and the need for new engagement letters.
  • Tips for strategic planning and managing change
